About me

Introduction:

My name is Dana and I study Biology at UVic!

More About Me:

I have a huge love for animals and anything nature wise. I was encouraged to study biology for this appreciation of animals and the natural world. Some of my favourite classes I have taken at Uvic are marine ecology (BIOL 319), marine invertebrates (BIOL 322), and survey of invertebrates (BIOL 321).

Last summer I completed a 300+ hour practicum at WildArc the only southern wildlife rehabilitation center on Vancouver Island.

I also am someone who loves to travel and explore! This summer I visited family in Arizona and made my way up to the Grand Canyon and to Antelope Canyons. Last reading break I went to Tokyo Japan, and this reading break I am heading to Copenhagen, Denmark to visit my boyfriend who is on exchange. We plan to make a trip to London, England while I am in Europe.

Last thing about me is I love to be active! In may I ran my first half marathon and had a PR for 21.5km! I love to go hiking, skiing, and anything outdoors!

A few prompts, if you want them

  • What kind of learner are you, and what does that change about how you design for others?
  • Which of the course topics — multimedia design, design thinking, storytelling, interactive objects — are you most curious about?
  • What have you made before? A slide deck, a video, a lesson plan, a comic. What worked and what did not?
  • What do you want to be able to do by the end of the term?
